This pendant features an authentic 5th century AD coin. , which depicts a Persian king, of the Sassanid empire, Peroz I. Peroz I was king of the Sassanids from 459 to his death.On the death of his father he was Governor of distant Sistan. In his absence, his younger brother Hormizd took the throne and Peroz was forced to seek protection from the Hephthalites. The Hephalite king Khush-Nevaz was happy to welcome him and help him in the war against his brother. With the help of the Hephalites, Peroz led an army against Hormizd, defeating him and keeping him in captivity. Sources disagree over Hormizd's fate after his capture. However, according to the Persian historian Mirkhond, Peroz forgave him and spared his life.
